Grey County Tourism took 20 local businesses and DMO's out to experience Grey County winter activities on February 1, 2017, the day prior to the 'early spring' prediction. (Groundhog Day).
The group did many outdoor activities, took in some gallery exhibits and sampled some amazing culinary treats. Here is how the day unfolded followed by photos/highlights from the trip.
Dual Acres, Sleigh Ride in Shallow LakeThe attendees gathered onto the horse drawn sleighs touring the maple and evergreen forests that reside on Dual Acres property.  The entire tour was 40 minutes in length and the attendees were invited to warm up with hot cocoa and cookies around the wood fire after in the sugar shack.
Tom Thomson Art Gallery, Owen SoundThe group toured all gallery spaces at the Tom Thomson Art Gallery and conducted a more concentrated reviewof the Tom Thomson Exhibit, which focuses on the mystery around his death. (with varying explanations through art.
The Falls Inn, Lunch and Walter's Falls Visit, Walter's Falls  
Everyone enjoyed a hearty winter meal at the Falls Inn, along with a sweet apple treat for dessert.  After lunch we bundled everyone up for a group photo by the icy Walter's Falls.
Georgian Hills Vineyards, Victoria Corners  
Participants could take part in two unique experiences at the winery, one which involved using your senses to identify ingredients used in three of their wine varieties and the other provided tour guests with a snowshoe trek through the vineyard.
*The tourism partners were able to choose between one of three winter activities at this stage of the fam tour, bathe and learn about the additions at Scandinave Spa, fat bike with Ride Guides or Cross Country ski at Scenic Caves.
Scandinave Spa, Blue Mountains
The attendees to Scandinave Spa were greeted by a representative who spoke to them about the new infared sauna and larger relaxation room that were almost ready for reveal (Feb 14) and then provided each with a towel for a 45 minute unwind and soak.
Fat Biking with Ride Guides, Blue MountainsThe winter cyclists were guided by Tim Carter, owner and operator of Ride Guides on a fat biking excursion that had them reaching the outskirts of Blue Mountain, so approximately 14 km in snowy conditions.  This group of adventurers were brave and troopers.
Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Adventures at Scenic Caves, Blue MountainsAt Scenic Caves snowshoe attendees were able to trek down to the Suspension Bridge, guided by one of their knowledgable staff members.  Cross Country ski experiencers set out on the groomed trails and enjoyed a stride across their property.
The Cheese Gallery, ThornburyThe group connected again, bringing everyone back together for a warm up at the Cheese Gallery in Thornbury, where Meredith's Ginger Elixir lattes were provided, coupled with local marshmallows (on top) by Marsh Street Sweets and some cheese samples.
